As Bezmenov explains in the interview, there are four steps to transform the thinking and behavior of the population:
1. Demoralization – this is a process which can take about 15-30 years to perform (a generation). During this stage, the moral fibre and integrity of the country is put into question, thereby creating doubt in the minds of the people. To do so, manipulation of the media and academia is required to influence young people. As the younger generation embraces new values, such as Marxism and Leninism, the older generation slowly loses control simply through attrition. Again, true facts no longer matter during this stage, but rather creating perceptions are of paramount importance.
2. Destabilization – the purpose of this step is to change the status quo, particularly the country’s economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. The intent is to create a massive government permeating society and becoming intrusive in the lives of its citizens. This can take from two to five years to perform, again with the active support of academia pushing youth in this direction. Here, entitlements and benefits are promised to the populace to encourage their support. Basically, they are bribing the people to accept their programs.
Bezmenov claims after this stage is completed, the naive college professors are no longer needed and since they will undoubtedly protest government policies when they discover the truth, they will be disposed of quickly. He cites examples of this occurring in Nicaragua, Grenada, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
3. Crisis – this is a major step lasting up to six weeks and involves a revolutionary change of power. This is where a cataclysmic event upsets and divides the country thereby creating panic among the citizens. Recent examples include the 2011 upheavals in the Middle East, most notably Egypt and Libya. To Americans, symptoms would include circumventing the Constitution and altering the checks and balances of government, and possibly martial law.
4. Normalization – the final stage is where the populace finally acquiesces and begins to assimilate communism. This can take up to two decades to complete.
Bezmenov claimed the first step, Demoralization, was completed well before his 1985 interview. In fact, the Russians were surprised how easily it had been performed. One clear indicator of the moral decay of the country is the decline of organized religion which, historically, has been a beacon for morality, but now it is in retreat. He also thought step two was nearing completion in 1985 but I believe he underestimated the rise and popularity of Ronald Reagan as president, which led to the end of the Cold War with the Soviet Union in 1991, and the shift to the War on Terror following 9/11. Nonetheless, many would argue America is now realizing Bezmenov’s scenario in 2012, particularly as the November elections loom ahead. This means the third step is in the offing which has a lot of people frightened for America’s future.
Yuri Bezmenov died in 1993 never realizing his prophecy, and hopefully it will never come to fruition, that we will remain a free and democratic Republic bound to the U.S. Constitution. However, as Bezmenov reminds us, communism requires simple patience and perseverance to alter the perceptions of the people. The only way to thwart it is to practice due diligence and not let it go unchallenged.

Rebekah Jones said in an email to FLORIDA TODAY that she single-handedly created two applications in two languages, four dashboards, six unique maps with layers of data functionality for 32 variables covering a half a million lines of data. Her objective was to create a way for Floridians and researchers to see what the COVID-19 situation was in real time.

Florida man fired from insurance firm after Costco mask outburst
The Florida Costco shopper who went ballistic after an elderly woman asked him to wear a mask is now out of a job.
The man – who said he felt threatened and harassed during the June 27 incident that went viral on social media – was identified Tuesday by internet sleuths and later Ted Todd Insurance as Daniel Maples, the Fort Myers News-Press reports.
A bio for Maples, who had worked with the insurance agency since 2016, had been removed from the company’s website by midday Tuesday.

St. Augustine. Fla. — St. Augustine is the latest city to be sued by a Florida state representative over its mandatory mask ordinance.
Republican Anthony Sabatini filed the lawsuit Thursday morning in St. Johns County aiming to put an injunction on the mask mandate.
He has filed similar lawsuits in Hillsborough and Orange counties.
The mask debate has no doubt taken over your social media timelines but now the discussion could go before a county judge.
“I agree with the mask policy anything to make it safer for people overall,” said Bob Callahan.
“It would be ideal for you to wear it but if you don’t want to wear you shouldn’t be forced,” said Hector Garcia.
Sabatini who represents District 32, which covers parts of Lake County, said making masks mandatory violates the law.
“They’ve enacted a really crazy policy that likely violates the Florida constitution, due process, and equal protection,” said Sabatini.
Sabatini also claimed in a tweet that the ordinance will result in the harassment of people with a disability who can’t wear a mask.
“Businesses are shunning them and treating them terribly and this city council in St. Augustine has really done a terrible thing and we hope that they retract the ordinance,” said Sabatini.
Action News Jax checked with the St. Augustine Police Department and we’re told it’s gotten no such harassment complaints of from citizens.
“Unless you have severe asthma problems, I mean I’m breathing fine in mine and I’m even a smoker,” said Callahan.
Sabatini said this is about government overreach.
“We’re suing to reassert the rights of people who work in the city of St. Augustine,” said Sabatini.
Sabatini also called city commissioners “snobby” and “elitist” over the $500 fine that comes with this ordinance.
The St. Augustine Police Department said it hasn’t handed out any citations because citizens have been good about wearing a mask.

‘This is no joke’: Man died of coronavirus day after saying he regretted attending a party
“A California man who contracted the coronavirus after attending a party died of COVID-19 one day after expressing regret on social media, according to reports.
Tommy Macias, 51, said in a now-deleted Facebook post that a couple of a weeks after he went out, he got tested for coronavirus on June 15 and got a positive result on June 18.
“Because of my stupidity I put my mom and sisters and my family’s health in jeopardy,” he wrote on June 20. “This has been a very painful experience.”
He urged others to wear a mask and practice social distancing if they have to go out. Macias thanked those who brought him food and supported him.
“Hopefully with God’s help,” he added, “I’ll be able to survive this.”
He died on June 21. An official from the Riverside County Office of Vital Records confirmed to multiple news outlets that Macias died from COVID-19.

Coronavirus test kits meant for the UK found to be contaminated with COVID-19
Coronavirus test kits that were to be sent to the United Kingdom were found to be contaminated with COVID-19, The Telegraph reports.
This comes at a time when the UK is ramping up efforts to boost testing in the country. The country has reached out to private companies to help make tests.
Luxembourg-based manufacturer Eurofins told UK officials that deliveries would be delayed because core parts were contaminated with the virus.
The delay is not expected to significantly impact the country’s testing for the virus.
